大家好!

We're in Beijing, and we're safe and well. We drove to Vancouver on Wednesday and flew out on Thursday at 12:30. The flight was about 13 hours. Chloe didn't sleep except for a few brief spurts, but she was pretty quiet. It may help her adjust to the time change, hopefully! The Beijing airport is beyond gigantic. We wandered around until we got our luggage and found a cab. Unfortunately, we totally got ripped off by the cab driver, but we know better now. He got lost a lot trying to find Ethan's great aunt Joan's house, but we got there without much trouble. There's a lot of people milling in and out of Joan's place, all of whom are very nice and helpful. We are going to check out an apartment that Ethan's friend has found for us, and we'll hopefully be on our way to our own apartment fairly soon. Chloe is a little sick. Her cheeks are ruddy, she's got a cough, and she spit up more than usual today. Ethan's great aunt Joan has an interesting story. She worked on the atom bomb in Los Alamos and seriously disapproved of the US bombing of Japan. She came to China in the late 40's and experienced the Communist Revolution. She and her husband, Sid, were heavily involved in helping China to develop their dairy farming. She's a wonderfully nice lady, and she's been very good to us. Thanks for all of your support!
